Every Sunday morning, millions of motorists in the UK and elsewhere around the world get the trusty bucket and sponge out of the garage or the shed and proceed to clean their cars. For many of us, it becomes something of an obsession, and the most dedicated polishers of all won’t even rest until the very last piece of road dust is removed from the bodywork.

The local petrol garage may well have a car wash machine, but for the purists it will never be good enough to do the job properly. After all, how can a few brushes and hoses be expected to achieve in five minutes what it would take a human being an hour or more to do? It might be sufficient for some, but not for everyone.

A top quality washer will be able to get into all the nooks and crannies of your car, and can get rid of all kinds of stains. Even the more stubborn materials such as bird droppings and tree sap will be no match, and it only takes a few minutes to give even the largest vehicle a thorough cleansing.

And when the power washer has done its job, the perfect finish is achieved with a chamois leather. It removes all the surplus water from the bodywork and the glass surfaces, and is perfect for that smear-free look. Although a tip-top cleaning job may take a little time, the overall effect is always worth it.

However, there’s no point having the exterior of the vehicle looking perfect if the interior is dirty. It’s surprising how quickly the dashboard, seats and carpets can become stained and dusty, but a hand-held vacuum cleaner can be used to restore the perfect look. And again it only takes a few minutes.

When cleaning the interior, it’s important to remember that you need to remove the dust altogether, rather than just re-distribute it. Therefore, an effective vacuum cleaner will be far better than a cloth or a feather duster. A little extra care will soon bring benefits for the motorist.
